Select Users by Groups |
|
1.Choose users from one of the Forum's groups from the groups pull-down menu. |
|
Shift-click to select multiple groups or select All Groups to display all the Forum users. |
|
The selected users will be displayed in the Editing Frame |
|
Please note that you will be able to further narrow down the list of users you wish to edit. |
|
2.Choose the layout for listing the results |
|
The default is [2 columns], but you may choose [1 column], or [3 columns] layout. |
|
Choose one of the Show Photos options: [No], [Small], [Large]. |
|
No Photos is the default. |
|
Choosing the other options will slow the upload, especially when [All Groups] is selected. |
|
Showing photos can be a useful visual aide in finding the user you wish to edit. |
|

The Editing Frame updates to display the Users Selection Form. |
|
If the result of your selection is a single user, his information is displayed in the Editing Frame. |
|

|
Search for Users |
|
1.Select the search method by choosing from the pull-down menu options: |
|
You can search users by their userid, last or first name or email address. |
|
Choose the equal, contains, starts with, and ends with options from the pull-down menu. |
|
Enter the value in the search text field. |
|
2.Choose the layout for listing the results |
|
The default is 2 columns, but you may choose 1 column, or 3 columns layout. |
|
Choose one of the Show Photos options: No, Small, Large. |
|

|

Editing Multiple Users |
|
All the Selected Users info is displayed in the Editing Frame. |
|
Each user is separated by a color bar. |
|
You may change any of their existing information. |
|
Editing User Permissions will not change previously posted messages. |
|
|
|
1.Edit the users information in all the appropriate places. |
|
The multiple user edit form layout is more compact than the single user edit form. |
|
This is to allow maximum display of information with minimum scrolling. |
|
2.Click to submit your changes. |
|
This can be a very long form. Make sure to submit your changes. |
|
Unless you click the submit button, all your changes will be lost. |
|
A confirmation form will be displayed with all submitted changes. |
|
|
|
Assigning Selected Users to a Forum Group |
|
In the Edit Multiple Users Form, you can assign selected users to a group. |
|
Note: To move a user to another Forum you need to be in the Edit Single User Form. |
|
Refer to the Copy Single User to another Forum section for more information. |
|
|
|
1.Check the checkbox next to each User you wish to assign to a group. |
|
Tip: Use [Select All], [Deselect All] or [Select Inverse] to edit multiple users. |
|
2.From the [Groups] pull-down menu, select the group you want to assign the users to. |
|
3.Click to submit your edits. |
|
|
|
Copying Selected Users to another Forum |
|
Note: Only panFora System Administrators can access this functionality. |
|
Cliking on the Copy button, will prompt you for the panFora Sys Admin password. |
|
1.Check the checkbox next to each User you wish to copy to another Forum. |
|
Tip: Use [Select All], [Deselect All] or [Select Inverse] to edit multiple users. |
|
2.From the [Forum] pull-down menu, select the Forum you want to copy the users to. |
|
3.Click to submit your edits. |
|
|
|
Deleting Selected Users from the current Forum |
|
1.Check the checkbox next to each User you wish to delete. |
|
Tip: Use [Select All], [Deselect All] or [Select Inverse] to edit multiple users. |
|
2.Click to submit your edits. |
|
A confirmation message will be displayed to make sure you want to delete the selected users. |
|
|
|
1.Edit UserID. Required |
|
2.Edit Password Hint. |
|
3.Edit New User Password. Required |
|
4.Check the Email Account Information to this user checkbox if you want an email sent to the user at the time of his registration to panFora. |
|
The email will contain his userid, password and a link to the Forum URL. |
|
5.Edit User First Name. Required |
|
6.Edit User Last Name. Required |
|
7.Edit User Preferred Name (Example "Bobbie Jones" for the User "Robert Jones"). |
|
8.Edit User Email Address. Required |
|
9.Edit User Phone Number. |
|
10.Set User Permissions by checking the appropriate checkboxes: Required |
|
Read and Write are checked by default, allowing the user to read and post messages to the Forum |
|
Moderator gives the user limited administration privileges: |
|
Make and Delete Announcements, Send Email to the Forum, |
|
Add, Edit and Delete Topics, and Edit and Delete Messages. |
|
It also provides a visual identifier for all moderators' postings. |
|
Admin gives the user Forum Administrator privileges. |
|
These include all moderator's privileges plus additional User Management privileges: |
|
Add, Edit and Delete Users, and Set-up the Forum various configurations. |
|
11.Assign User to a Forum Group by selecting from the Forum Group pull-down menu. Required |
|
Make sure you select the appropriate group to ensure the user has access to his correct home page, announcements, email, etc. |
|
12.Choose whether to put the user on the Group Email List: Required |
|
By default the user is put in his group's email list. |
|
Many moderators and admins prefer to not be in their groups email list. |
|
Example: The Admin that does not want to be bombarded with community email chatter in the Forum. |
|
13.Choose whether to hide the user's Email address: Required |
|
By default the user's email is visible to all. |
|
Many users, however, prefer to keep their email private. |
|
Keeping the email address private (by hiding it) does not change any of the email functionality. |
|
It only keeps the user's email address from being publicly displayed. |
|
Users also have direct access to this functionality by editing their user profile. |
|
Unless showing User Profile is disabled in their Forum configuration. |
|
14.Edit Users Personal Information in the Personal Information Text Field. |
|
This information is displayed in the user's User Profile, if your Forum configuration supports this feature. |
|
Please check the Forum Look and Feel section for more on this subject. |
|
15.Edit Signature |
|
If a user has a signature, he may choose to append it to any of his messages. |
|
The Signature button is then visible in each of this user's Post and Reply windows. |
|
Users also have direct access to this functionality by editing their user profile. |
|
Unless showing User Profile is disabled in their Forum configuration. |
|
16.Edit User Photo |
|
For more information on allowing User Photos display and allowing Users to upload their own photos, |
|
please refer to General Configuration and Forum Look and Feel sections. |
|
a.Click on either the Small Photo or Large Photo image link to make changes. |
|
The Photo Browser Window pops up and the current user photo |
|
is displayed in the Selected Photo Frame. |
|
All the photos available in the Forum are displayed in the Photo Selection Frame. |
|
b.Click a photo link in the Photo Selection Frame to select it |
|
The Selected Photo Frame updates to display the new selection. |
|
c.Click to finalize your choice, assigning it to the new user. |
|
The new photo is displayed in lieu of the old one. |
|
17.Click to submit your changes. |

|
Copy Single User to another Forum |
|
In the Edit Single User Form, under [Options for User], you may Copy User to another Forum in one simple operation. |
|
Note: Only panFora System Administrators can access this functionality. |
|
Cliking on the Copy button, will prompt you for the panFora Sys Admin password. |
|
1.Scroll to the bottom of the Edit User Form to display the [User Management] options. |
|
Use the graphic at the Task Frame title bar to automatically scroll down to the [Copy User] option |
|
2.From the [Forum] pull-down menu, select the Forum you want to copy the user to. |
|
Note: The user will become a registered member of both forums. |
|
3.Click to submit your edits. |
|
|
|
Move Single User to another Forum |
|
In the Edit Single User Form, under Options for User, you may Move User to another Forum in one simple operation. |
|
Note: Only panFora System Administrators can access this functionality. |
|
Cliking on the Move button, will prompt you for the panFora Sys Admin password. |
|
This option is only available for single user editing. |
|
1.Scroll to the bottom of the Edit User Form to display the [User Management] options. |
|
Use the graphic at the Task Frame title bar to automatically scroll down to the [Move User] option |
|
2.From the [Forum] pull-down menu, select the Forum you want to move the user to. |
|
Note: The user will be removed from the current Forum and added to the selected Forum. |
|
3.Click to submit your edits. |
|
|
|
Delete Single User from the current Forum |
|
In the Edit Single User Form, under Options for User, you may Remove User from current Forum. |
|
1.Scroll to the bottom of the Edit User Form to display the [User Management] options. |
|
Use the graphic at the Task Frame title bar to automatically scroll down to the [Delete User] option. |
|
2.Click to submit your edits. |
|
A confirmation message will be displayed to make sure you want to delete the selected user. |
