Threads Frame displays the list of message threads in a selected topic. Threads Frame can also display global views, such as Most Recent Posts View.

Notes
  In Global Views, message lists span all topics in the forum.

panFora Message Threads

Messages in panFora are displayed in message threads.
This unique neat feature allows you to always view a message in its context
It also allows you to view the dynamics of an entire discussion, as it spawns from any given message.

   A message thread displays a message together with the complete list of its replies, and replies to replies.
   Each reply is indented from the message it replies to.

Tips
  In Expert Mode, message threads are collapsed to show only the head post, or original message.
  Expand message threads to reveal the complete thread message list.
  Click on the Expand All link to expand all hierarchies at once.

Threads Frame Views

The Threads Frame default view is Threads View.
In Threads View you can:
  View all message threads for the selected topic
  Sort messages by date or author
  Post a message to that topic.

The Threads frame also display Global Views.

  Most Recent Posts View displays only the most recent posts to the Forum.
  New Replies to Your Posts View displays only new replies to your posts to the Forum.
  Global Authors View displays all posts to the Forum, across all topics, sorted by author.

Notes
  In Global Views, message lists span all topics in the forum.

Threads View

Threads View displays the list of all message threads in the selected topic.
Each line corresponds to an existing message in the Message Thread displaying
  The message title, author name, date and time of posting, and message attributes.

Notes
  Each Message Thread has one or more messages.
  If a thread contains multiple messages, it will show the title of the first message followed by the total number of replies in the thread and the date of the most recent post in the thread
  Expand the list to view individual message titles and date of posting.

Selecting a message in a message thread
1. To select a message, click on its name in the Threads Frame.

  The message graphic updates to show the message is selected.
  The Message content in its entirety will be shown in the Content Frame.

2. Click on the expand button ( in Windows OS or in Mac OS) to expand message threads and reveal the complete thread message list.

Shortcut
  Click on the Expand All link to expand all threads at once.
  Click on the Collapse All link to collapse all threads at once.
  Please note that the Expand All and Collapse All features are frame specific.

Notes
  A topic must be first selected in the Topics Frame.
  In Expert Mode, clicking on a collapsed message thread selects the head post.
  Please refer to Collapsing and Expanding Hierarchies in the Selecting section for more information on panFora's hierarchy structure and platform specific issues.

Message Indicators

Each individual message is preceded by a color graphic indicating whether it was posted a user or by a moderator, and followed by its author name.
Each message thread is preceded by expand or collapse buttons.

Notes
  The default color graphic indicators are gray for user, and green for moderator. However, as the Forum Administrator sets up the color combinations for each new forum, yours may be different.
  Please refer to Collapsing and Expanding Hierarchies in the Selecting section for more information on panFora's hierarchy structure and platform specific issues.

Number of replies
After each head post there is a number in parenthesis.
That is the total number of replies in that message thread.
Post Date
Post Date information includes date and time of posting.

Notes
  If the message thread is collapsed, the date refers to the most recent post to this message thread.
  Click on the expand button ( in Windows OS or in Mac OS) to expand message threads and reveal the complete message list.

Message attributes icons

  This icon indicates messages posted in the last 24 hours.
  This icon indicates messages with attachments.

From the Threads View you can:
Post a Message
Click in the title bar to create a new message thread in the selected topic.

Notes
  If this topic no longer allows posting, the Post button is not available.
  For more information on posting to panFora, please refer to the Posting section.

Choose Message Sorting Methods
By default, message threads are sorted in chronological order, from most recent to oldest.

  Sorts message threads by inverted chronological order from oldest to most recent.
  Reverts to default sorting order, from most recent to oldest.
  Sorts messages in the selected topic alphabetically by author.

Notes
  If this topic no longer allows posting, the Post button is not available.
  For more information on posting to panFora, please refer to the Posting section.

Sorting by Author
Click in the Message Threads Frame title bar to sort messages by author

  Sorting by Author span all message threads in the selected topic
  Messages are not threaded and are always displayed chronologically.
   Each line corresponds to an author.
   The number in parenthesis that follows the authors name indicates the number of messages posted by that author.

Notes
  Expand the list to view individual message titles and date of posting.

Tips
  Click in the Message Threads Frame title bar to revert back to Threads View.

Global Views
Additional Global Views are also displayed in the Threads Frame.

  Click located in the Topics Frame to access the Most Recent Posts View.
  Click located in the Topics Frame to access the New Replies to Your Posts View.
  Click located in the Topics Frame to access the Global Authors View.

Tips
  To revert back to the default view (Threads View), please refer to Tracing a Message in the Selecting section.

Most Recent Posts View
This view is global and not topic specific.

  Message lists in this view have no hierarchy and are always displayed chronologically.
  Each line corresponds to one message, displaying message title, author, date and time of posting, message attributes, and message location.

Message attributes icons

  This icon indicates messages posted in the last 24 hours.
  This icon differentiates original posts (Head Posts) from replies to posts.
  This icon indicates messages with attachments.

Notes
   Selecting this view will search all messages in the Forum to create the appropriate list for display.

New Replies to Your Posts View

This view is global and not topic specific.
The New Replies to Your Posts View displays only new replies to your messages - i.e., messages you haven't read yet in the Content Frame.

In the Threads Frame title bar,
  Click to view all the replies to your messages, including those you've already read.
  Click to view only new replies to your messages.

Message lists in this view have no hierarchy and are always displayed chronologically.
Each line corresponds to one message, displaying message title, author, date and time of posting, message attributes, and message location.

Message attributes icons

  This icon indicates messages posted in the last 24 hours.
  This icon differentiates original posts (Head Posts) from replies to posts.
  This icon indicates messages with attachments.
  This icon indicates the message has already been read - only available when "Show All" option is selected.

Global Authors View
This view is global and not topic specific.

  Messages are grouped by author.
  Each line corresponds to one author, displaying total number of messages posted by each author, followed by date and time of last post.

1. Expand to view the complete list of messages posted by each author.

  Message lists in this view have no hierarchy and are always displayed chronologically.
  Each line corresponds to one message, displaying message title, date and time of posting, message attributes, and message location.

  This icon differentiates original posts (Head Posts) from replies to posts.
