Please follow the steps detailed below to ensure the desired results. |

1.Enter the filename of the User Upload File or click on the Browse button to locate the text file you wish to upload. |
|
2.Check the checkbox to send account information to new users through email. |
|
The email will contain the user's userid, password and a link to the Forum URL. |
|
3.Click to upload the file. |
|
|
|
Important - The file must be a plain text file (.txt) and have either Unix or DOS line breaks. |
|
This means the file can not be created on a Macintosh unless it is saved with Unix or DOS line breaks. |
|
|
|
Furthermore, the format of the text file must be as follows: |
|
One user per line |
|
Each user must have a unique ID |
|
The user data must be tab delimited |
|
Empty fields must still be delimited by tabs |
|
If the password is left blank, a random 8-character password will be assigned. |
|
Permissions is sum of the numbers below to provide the associated permissions: |
|
Write= 1 |
|
Read= 2 |
|
Faculty= 4 |
|
Admin= 8 |
|
Note: If this field is left blank, the user will be given Read and Write permissions (a value of 3). |
|
Forum Group can either be the system internal group ID (e.g. "2" or "CLASSID: 2"), |
|
or the textual name of the group (e.g. "Group 3"). |
|
Any group names specified that do not already exist will be added. |
|
If you leave the group blank, the user will be assigned to the first group in the list. |
|
The Photo field can be left blank and a default picture set will be used (Guest.gif and Guest.jpg). |
|
If the large photo field is left blank, it will be determined by the name of the small photo. |
|
It is recommended that you leave this field blank, and it will be filled for you. |
